The Strip Down: Sides, Ceilings and Floors

KINGDOM ADVENTURES
“The Strip Down – Sides, Ceiling and floors, OH MY!”
In the Beginning..
When we originally inherited the bus… it was… well, a bus. There were some modifications that were done on the inside, but it was still being used to transport people from point A to point B. The seats had been modified from row style, to bordering the outside of the windows. Before LifeSong Church used it as a “Bus Ministry” we’re assuming it was used as a Party Bus.
(See video below of an inside tour)
The First Steps…
The first steps of converting the bus into a home was to remove the bench seats from the inside of the bus. Under the seats, we found enough speakers and amplifiers for a Bon Jovi concert! The bus had definitely been used as a “Party Bus” in it’s past life… What an amazing testimony that it’s now going to be used for God’s Kingdom!
After all the seats were removed and tossed out the back, the next step was to begin to remove the interior of the metal bus paneling.
We began the process by starting on the upper-side portion. Much of the sheet metal paneling was easily accessible and removable by using screwdrivers and normal tools. After we took down the top portion, we realized that the ceiling paneling and bottom side paneling were held together by rivetted screws. The only way to get those screws out were to grind the heads completely off!
The old insulation (fiber glass) needed to come out because it was holding moisture and already beginning to become moldy. It was also not the correct type of insulation that we needed to make sure our home would be properly insulated for every season and terrain type that we travel to.
After grinding down (oh maybe 500 or so screws) and a few days later… the paneling was finally off and we were able to remove all the old fiber glass. The bus was totally stripped down.
Phillipians 4:6-7 (New Living Translation)
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard you rhearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
The next step was to rip up the flooring…
After all the floors were tore up and removed, we passed the point of no return. We though to ourselves “What in the world did we get ourselves in to?” Immediately following was the Voice of the Lord “We will get through this together”. It looked really bad at this point, but God had everything under control. He had a plan…
