Missionary Trip with Youth For Christ | Michigan Youth Challenge Academy | Battle Creek, Michigan

May 2 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 pm
Hey guys!
Our family is going to be serving this year at the Michigan Youth Challenge Academy. It’s a 3-day opportunity for the church to come in and minister to “at risk” teens.
We started serving at this ministry back in the fall of 2019 as a family and fell in love. It’s a beautiful ministry that puts down denominational differences to love on youth from across Michigan.
This is a military program, but they allow Youth For Christ to come in for 3 days and show these youth the love of Christ. The ministry is very similar to “Encounter” as it’s heavy testimony and worship based – with biblical teaching that goes all the way from repentance, forgiveness and Salvation.
I’m super excited to be back this year, I will post details in the comments for the next Retreat, we will be meeting 3 times on Sunday Evenings after Easter in Auburn with the leaders of this ministry.
The ministry itself is located in Battle Creek, Michigan and will take place April30-May3 If you’d like additional information, please let me know. Our family and a group of friends will be going to serve. Check comments for additional info! Blessings guys ❤

Here is a bio from the ministry:

A second chance for the “at risk youth” of Michigan.

The Michigan Youth Challenge Academy is a 17.5-month, three phase program
conducted by the Michigan National Guard. Cadets start with a two-week Pre-Challenge
phase at Fort Curter in Augusta, Michigan. Then for 20 weeks they live, work, and study
on-site with other 16-18 year old cadets. In those 20 weeks they will receive 400 hours
of classroom instruction to prepare them for the G.E.D. exam. After completion of their
22-week resident phase cadets graduate and continue their personal growth with an
adult mentor. The mentor provides each graduate with assistance for the next 12
months in their own community. There is NO COST to the cadet or his/her family for
participation in this program. There is NO MILITARY OBLIGATION for participation
either.

The purpose of the program is to help “at risk” youth obtain their G.E.D., teach them
basic life skills, set goals for their future, obtain full-time employment in their community,
and/or pursue further education. This is a three phase, 17.5 month program. The first
two phases are twenty-two weeks combined and they are residents at the academy.
The third phase is post-resident, and they are in their own community.
The Challenge Retreat is a faith-based program being offered as an extension of
the MYCA to equip the youth with life changing Christian survival skills.
